My name is Vonna and im a plus size Lolita and honestly im tired of searching youtube/ Google and every other search engine looking for good tips .......I Still haven't found the perfect dress yet(luckily my uncle is helping me make one ) the only thing I found was this woman basically complaining about what other plus size Lolitas / cosplayers should not wear for one I think that's ridiculously stupid to think that just because you are plus size you cant wear certain styles second it discourages a lot of plus size women from wanting to dress in Lolita for fear they wont look good ...... I feel like a person should wear whatever they want but make sure it fits your body type if you do that then you will look fantastic and im hear to help with simple fashion tips
Gothic Lolita- White mixed with Dark colors (black, red, silver etc.)
not as much lace as the other styles and not as revealing as western Goths. Its very
cute and elegant uses Gothic print with spiders, bats, and crosses.
Sweet Lolita -Very cute and colorful but more
traditional colors include pink, baby
blue, greens, purples and so on outfits usually include cupcake & fruit
patterns on the dress ,bonnets, lots of lace heart shaped accessories*think
Little Red Riding Hood*
Classic Lolita- This
is a simple look muted colors with light
floral prints. Not a lot of ribbons and bows its in between Gothic and Sweet Lolita with an aristocrat charm. This look is great if you want a more laid back style
Punk Lolita- Looks just like American punk but with Loli punk you have bell shaped skirts, lace and frills, remember keep it Lolita cute <3 you can wear combat boots and spiked collars with lace and plaid along with ripped clothes suspenders etc
Aristocrat- Is what a grown up Lolita wears , its refined ,very lady like , less girlish , more women like
very elegant and not as many bell shaped dress has longer skirts and plenty of ruffles and lace. Colors worn are dark blues, reds and white and so on. Accessories include mini top hats lace gloves choker necklaces corsets and etc......

kodona |
|
Dandy |
Kodona& Dandy - There the boyish styles kodona is the cutesy little boy style and Dandy is the more sophisticated kodona lolitas knickers with suspenders or a blouse ,vest and jackets Dandy wears full Victorian suits (doublet, cravats, top hats ect)
Kuro &Shiro- Lolitas that dress in this style are often paired together,Kuro Lolitas wear all black
(kuro Lolita is not the name for a dark skined Lolita so don't be rude!).Shiro lolitas wear all white be careful with this look though to many accessories or an over use of white and you could look like a fluffy cloud
Hime or Princess Lolita - Rococo inspired , its very fancy mini crowns, tiaras, septers floor lengths bell shaped gowns with Square necklines. This is the most extravagant and regal of all the styles
Country Lolita- Looks just like the sweet Lolita, country lolitas have dresses with fruit on them and floral print but strawberries on the dress make it different wicker baskets and parasols make good accessories.
Sailor Lolita- Is just what the name tells you, its a lolitas take on the old fashion sailor uniforms, colors worn are navy black and white and patters include stripes, anchors, and nautical stars.

Wa |
|
Qi |
Wa and Qi lolitas- Traditional kimono lolitas im not to fimilair with this look so but in my opinion its basically traditional dress with western influences
How to do it plus sized- If you feel comfortable and your legs are you best asset were a medium length kimono to fully accentuate your killer gams
If you want to draw attention away from your legs try and find a longer one pair belt it to define the waist and draw the attention upward.
Guro Lolita- Known as gore or hurt Lolita you can wear any look with this but it mostly worn with Gothic and punk but it also looks nice with shiro styles.with this style its all about the details like eye patches, aprons with blood splattered on it (because you don't want to mess up a dress you can wear as another style) teddy bears medical symbol motifs, fake bruises and so on the goal is to achieve the broken dolly look this is a uncommon style and inappropriate for tea parties unless said otherwise.
TIP: Don't over do it with the fake blood because it looks tacky and its very messy
Euro Lolita- This style is more revealing, skirts are shorter tops are cut lower but nothing is exposed corsets are worn as blouses and vinyl, leather, handcuff, garters, collars, fishnets but with that being said it must still contain Lolita elements like frills and some color its a good look for going to clubs.
HOW TO DO IT PLUS SIZED- Don't think that just because your bigger you cant do this look all you have to do is use shapewear I will explain below make sure that the corsets you wear are full coverage or if you wear a underbust corset that the length of it runs longer then a normal one. Looks like these paired with all the right Lolita accessories are exceptable and will look stunning on you:
<
theses looks are beautiful over a ruffled top with a short-medium length pencil skirt.
Steampunk Lolita- Is like regular steampunk fashion but with a Lolita flare you can wear high waist skirts or Lolita dresses. Dress patterns include compasses, goggles, cogs, clocks anything. Think Victorian with a modern twist accessories include top hats (mini or regular ) eyepathches, pocket watches goggles etc
*The reason I explained how to do wear WA/QI and eruo Lolita is because people seem to think that us plus size gals as sexy and buxom as we are cant wear the those styles so lets prove them wrong.
Accessory tip- Avoid socks with print if you have a wider calf or just got to a plus size shop and get your socks from there. There not to expensive but pantyhose can be another story so shop around for the best price forever21,Torrid, Dots and stores like that will fit your needs.
2.) Measurements- After selecting the style or styles you want to dress in its important to take your measurements because if your a plus size Lolita you will have to get your garments custom made which can be expensive or you will have to sew your clothes yourself which is an inexpressive alternative also you can shop for Lolita esque items but were is the fun in that (seriously).
So when taking your measurements the most important measurements are the bust natural waist and hips to make sure the numbers are accurate have a friend measure you and when measuring your bust do it without a bra to make sure its exact. (*NOTE: don't ever let anyone tell you your too big for a certain style as long your clothes fit and you accentuate your best assets you should smile like the graceful and classy woman that you are hold up your hand and give them a well manicured middle finger and then walk away with your head held high.)
3.) Now that your measurements have been taken your ready to see what type of garments and patterns complement your body type.
Hourglass- A gal with this body type has a smaller waist bigger hips and a bigger bust, if your this shape jump &high waisted skirts will look fabulous on you also dress with an a line shape
would look good as well.
Bottom heavy or Pear shaped- Means mostly all your weight is in your hips and thighs so garments with princess seams and a line dresses will do you good and make you look like you have a smaller waist. A ruffled top will make everything look even but watch for the cut of your skirts you want them a few inches longer so you wont have to worry about unwanted exposure.
Top heavy or Inverted Triangle- This means that you carry most your weight in your chest and tummy.Very full petticoats will give the illusion that you have fuller hips.Try to find dresses and other garments with empire waists because it takes away from your tummy. If you want to give a more buxom look throw on a jump or high waist skirt if you don't then I don't suggest these for you because high waist or underbust garments draw more attention to your breasts.
Apple shape- A little bit of trial and error is needed but you should most defiantly wear separates so that you can get tops that complement your top half and skirts that can complement your bottom half tops with back shirring and zip up skirts will look fantastic.
Now on to patterns you can wear whatever pattern you prefer just avoid patterns that make you look wider like wide vertical strips because like I said they add unwanted width same with bulky horizontal stripes
big no-no other then that wear what you love <3.
4.)
Shapeware-If worn correctly this could be a plus size lolitas best friend but don't think you can just go out and buy any old girdle you need to find one that fits comfortably pulls all the right places in and complements all the right areas. A good one will run you about 50-100 dollars but if your frugal you can look for one at Burlington Coat factory but I highly suggest sites like Layne Bryant,Fashion Bug and www.Spanx.com there moderately priced and you can be sure you will have a perfect fit there's a girdle for everybody shape and for every place you need pulled in.

5.) Buying your dress- If you know how to sew then your good to go just follow all the other guidelines i set out for you but if your not handy with a needle and thread you'll need to buy a dress and most likely have it custom made. Below I have listed sites that will custom make your clothes for you and I will also list sites that sell Lolita like items in plus size
Lolita shops
shops that have Lolita esque clothes
- http://www.shadowclad.com-is a directory site that has a list of other plus size Gothic clothing stores from different parts of the world . a lot if not all ship internationally sizeS go from xl -6x (some stores but they all seem to have a lot of bigger sizes) prices run from moderate-expensive
- http://www.chicstar.com-has cute Lolita skirts but its more on the Aristocrat,Punk, and Gothic side if you can draw or you have a friend that dose you can submit a design for the chance to get it commissioned prices: moderate to expensive
-
http://www.starletsandharlets.com- has nice punk items and they run from a size 18-28 but they are very expensive.
simple tips for shopping;
Buying Lolita dresses custom made can be expensive but with the right budgeting you wont have to break your piggy bank and you can still look fabulous.
- Set a spending limit for yourself and make sure you don't go over the maximum spending limit you set for yourself
- If you can try and make accessories like necklaces bracelets mini top hats chokers etc its a lot easier on your wallet because some stores have really expensive accessories or if you cant make them try looking in a second hand shop you will most likely find what you need.
- For shoes try shopping at online stores like
http://www.sinistersoles.com/ .They have a lot of cute shoes to choose from and there prices are moderate to expensive 34$-130$ there shoe sizes run from sizes 5-16
- Save were you can but never pick price over quality you get what you pay for if you pick a dress because its cheap then you will end up with a cheap looking dress please never do this.
I really hope this list was helpful to everyone but if you feel the need to look elsewere for shops please look on this list make sure its not a scam I put a link to the EGL community blog with all of Milanoos scam stores and blogs
http://egl.livejournal.com/15911979.html
6.) Confidence- It takes a lot of confidence to be a plus size Lolita people will talk shit about whatever they can to make you feel bad about yourself . You cant let ANYONE make you feel low about yourself that gives them all the power DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN. You all are beautiful no matter what any asshole says. Practice confidence every day when you wake up and go to the bathroom say good mourning gorgeous then when you got to bed say good night beautiful it sounds corny but it really dose work try it and see for yourself.
Once you get your dress or outfit make sure you model it front of people before you go to an event or just to get used to the stars you will get from being a Lolita in general the more you get used to it the more confident you will feel COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS ARE WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED!
